The Finance Manager in Nigeria strategically oversees financial operations, ensuring compliance and contributing to organizational financial health. Responsibilities include robust financial planning and analysis, effective cash management, risk mitigation, and tax planning. The manager leads audit processes, establishes and enforces financial policies aligned with local regulations, and strategically implements and manages financial systems and technology. The role involves strategic decision-making in collaboration with other departments, focusing on cost optimization, and continuous adaptation to the evolving business landscape in our West African Markets that is Nigeria and Ghana. Leadership involves nurturing a skilled finance team, staying abreast of compliance changes, and actively contributing to strategic initiatives for the organization's sustained success.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial reporting
Strong ownership of country balance sheets. Lead quarterly balance sheet reviews for the Region with the Head of Finance Controllership, Group CEO and CFO.
Overall responsibility for the integrity of all financial reporting and accounting records for the region.
Ensure that audits and audited financial statements are completed on time
Drafting budgets, monitoring costs and conducting reviews/evaluations for cost reducing opportunities
Lead the annual budget process and forecast updates for the region.
Independent oversight of Merchant and Aggregator reconciliations.
Working closely with the Group Risk, Compliance. Legal and Internal Audit Functions.
Preparation of monthly financials.
Review of month end balance sheet reconciliations.
Preparation of budgets and the continued monitoring and review of actual performance against these budgets.
Technical expert on accounting standards including monitoring any changes in those standards as well as ensuring internal processes & systems are compliant.
Ensure in conjunction with the Head of Finance Controllership that the monthly and annual financial processes are efficient, within the agreed timeframes and meet the needs of stakeholders, regulatory bodies and senior management.
Reviewing and implementing Transfer Pricing Policies
Ad-hoc tasks.
Taxation
Ensure robust tax compliance for our West African Markets
Oversight of VAT/other relevant tax filings & associated payments.
Working with external accountants to ensure timely and accurate submission of tax returns.
Working with regulatory representatives to complete accurate filings and maintain compliance
Controls
To provide support and assistance to the Head of Finance Controllership in the development and implementation of standard financial operating procedures.
To provide support and assistance to the Head of Finance Controllership in regularly reviewing the effectiveness of internal controls covering financial, operational and compliance controls.
Play an active role in assisting the Head of Finance Controllership in the risk assessment process and embedding a risk management culture throughout the organization.
Ensure that documents are checked, captured and filed and that the Company meets all the financial requirements in terms of local laws and regulations, aligned with the Company policies
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Must Have Experience:
Proven track record of successful financial leadership roles, preferably at a senior management level.
Experience in managing diverse financial functions, including financial planning, analysis, reporting, and control.
Familiarity with the local business environment, regulatory framework, and financial practices in Nigeria and Ghana
Experience that will count in your favor:
Fintech/Financial services Industry experience
Strong background in financial planning and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Proven leadership and management skills, including the ability to lead and inspire a finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
Nice To Have Experience:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders, including executive management, board members, and regulatory authorities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Professional certification such as ICAN, CPA, ACCA, CIA, or CISA.
7+ years experience in a commercial or finance role preferably with FinTech ,Financial or Management accounting fields
